This thing is amazing. I spent a ton of money on a new latex mattress, replacing an old latex mattress that I had enjoyed very much. The new mattress was too soft, I had serious lower back pain. I used my 1X free trade in for for a harder latex mattress. Hard as a rock. This time, hip pain. Thousands of dollars down the drain.So, I figured for $130 I could try this to try to salvage this big investment, and it is fabulous. I had tried memory foam mattresses and found them too squishy for my taste, but this is just enough foam to be incredibly comfortable but not feel too weird. And I think having the hard mattress underneath helps with support, that you might not get with a 100% memory foam mattress.Just a heads up that this topper will add significant height to your mattress. You have the foam itself, and then a cushy cover. It will stretch the ability of your fitted sheets, but I was ok with mine. My package came on a cold night, and when you unpack this it is quite stiff. But a few hours in my warm bedroom on the floor and it had plumped up and aired out enough that I could use it that night. Sometimes I get a whiff of odor, but nothing too offensive at all.Memory foam has the reputation of making you sleep hot. I do think that I'm warmer than I was without it, but it is a small price to pay for the comfort it has given me. Highly recommend.After several weeks of use I am comfortable in providing a review of this mattress topper. While this is an upgrade to my firm mattress, Serta is "counting" the quilted mattress pad as one of the four inches of memory foam, which is why my rating is lower. Without the quilted mattress pad, you are left with only two inches of memory foam attached to one inch of straight up upholstery foam. That said, I find that this product as described is misleading, and, since you're essentially paying for TWO INCHES of memory foam, it is overpriced compared to other actual three and four inch memory foam toppers. Similar to a gel memory foam topper, it is vacuum packaged and needs to be opened on top of the mattress you wish to use. It takes only minutes to unfold and "breathe". While the instructions advise you can apply the separately packaged mattress pad immediately, the mattress pad does have a chemical smell so I chose to wash on a gentle cycle before applying to the mattress topper. The quilted mattress pad IS nice and is designed to cover the three inch topper AND the underlying mattress. However, it is not a snug fit and we've found that it does move around a bit while sleeping. Overall this is above average and, in my opinion, overpriced.I bought the Consumer Reports 1 one recommended mattress which was the Serta Vantage Firm. It was, by far, the worst mistake I have made in a very long time. I was aching all over, from my shoulder down. Everything hurt... this bed was so hard. I bought this from Mattress firm and because they had made a mistake and sent me the wrong mattress to begin with, they felt I had used up my return privilege, so I was stuck. I was in such agony, I was ready to get rid of this $2500 mattress and buy a new one UNTIL.....I found my life saver the 4 in Serta Triple Layer Comfort topper. It is amazing! It has made all the difference in the world and I can now sleep on this mattress with no problem. It does not smell like it competator either. It is just wonderful cushion that wraps you in comfort.Well, it wasn't the "cure all" I was hoping for, but it is quite nice and I will definitely keep it. It feels very luxurious and is definitely extremely high quality for the price, so you'll be pleased with the awesome value. If you normally wake up with sore knees, elbows and shoulders, this will definitely diffuse the "pressure points" in your regular mattress that cause this, so that is a plus. However, after a couple weeks of having it, we found it just "too much of a good thing" for us. Too cushy, that is. I'm going to put it on our guest bed so visitors will really feel spoiled by it.Our son bought an inexpensive mattress for the guest room we use, when we visit them and our grandsons. It was as hard as wood. After trying to sleep on it for several days, we were miserable. A new mattress was cost prohibitive. We had to do something or we would have to move to a hotel or leave for home earlier than planned. I came across this item while searching Amazon for an affordable solution. It is a little expensive, but boy does it work. I'm a 250 lb. back sleeper and my wife is a 140 lb. side sleeper. We were both satisfied with this product. It gave us a wonderful nights rest and we ended staying longer than planned. My wife, I and the grandsons had a wonderful visit. I would recommend this product to anyone that is sleeping on a mattress that is to hard.This is NOT a Serta mattress topper. The brand is Sleep Innovations. The reason sellers create deceptive titles is to trick unsuspecting shoppers into clicking on, and then purchasing their 2nd rate product by falsely associating it with a well-known brand such as Serta. I also suspect that some of the other reviews here are fake because they call this topper "Serta." Once you open the package, nowhere does it say Serta, but Sleep Innovations.Now to quality. First impression of the foam is positive. It appears to be well-made and very cushy. The foam gives off an unpleasant odor, which diminishes over time. We left it in a spare bedroom with the window open for 24 hours and that took care of the smell.All in all, quality appears to be there, at least initially. That said, be aware that you aren't purchasing Serta, but Sleep Innovations.I have always slept w a mattress topper, even though my hi end mattress has a pillow top. I'm a 40 yr old woman w back/knee issues, and this topper is wonderful. I have not had any of the heat issues that may be associated w memory foam. I am a side/stomach sleeper and haven't had problems with circulation or tossing and turning. Also, when my boyfriend has stayed over, neither of us is bothered by the other one moving around. You don't feel it.It does have a strong odor for the first 2 days. However, small price to pay for a great nights sleep.
