This shoe is sturdy and offers support and traction on all surfaces. It has a very wide opening making it easy to slip on. The Velcro strap snugs up easily. It also looks better than most Ortho shoes.I bought these shoes for my mom who was celebrating her 90th birthday. She has foot issues as well as mobility issues and it is extremely hard to find shoes that fit, are supportive and are comfortable. These were perfect. The arch supports which were included were great. The shoes were roomy but not overly so. They seemed to give her good support and were light-weight. She has Parkinson's and frequently mentions her other shoes feel "heavy" to walk in...but not so with these. The bonus of them was, they actually looked cute once on her feet. After trying them on, she immediately asked if we could get them in more colors.I bought these for extra comfort as I eased from my surgery boot back into shoes. I knew I could not go right back into my regular shoes and needed something I could wear with pants that could be a walking shoe but suffice also for dinner and shows at an upcoming trip to Manhattan. No, Manolos they are not but they peek out from a pants leg just fine and they are amazing walking shoes. Nobody stopped me at a restaurant door for being dressed improperly...ha ha. I continued to wear them long after I was able to return to regular shoes.Great shoe if you need a shoe with support even while walking indoors. My AFObrace fits in also, so I could wear outside too. My friend who has Cerebral Palsy alsohad her brace maker put the AFO directly into the shoe anchored in the sole. Great if you are recoveringfrom an ankle operation or toe nail removal because you can order so the shoe runs wide.Even though you can wear them for more than 5 hours, your feet get hot in them. At one point you need to take them off and let your feet cool off.I bought them for my wife because she had ankle fusion, and she needed good support after her surgery, which they did provide her.I ordered these shoes for my 87 yo mom in her regular 8 size, however they run somewhat large. My mom solved the problem with using a sole and she is delighted with these shoes cause they are extremely comfortable and lightweightBought those shoes for my aging mom who has difficulties walking - she needed a secured and super comfortable pairs of shoes.This is the second pair I bought for her.
